A is for And The Looking Glass Falls (and intro to the AtoZ challenge)

Apparently there are times that I wound up forgetting the fact that this blog actually exist (to my horror). Of course, I can make 1001 excuses on why I'm not updating and I swear it will all be plausible in so many ways but that still didn't change the fact that this. blog. is. dead. (sorta).

So in order to revive this place from the oblivion, I'm participating in the AtoZ blogging challenge where the blogger is required to blog everyday sans Sunday starting on 1st of April (which is today, yeah). You can check out the details by clicking on the badge at the sidebar.

(I mentioned my intention on doing this to my 'editor' imouto and I'm pretty sure she's half-convinced it's not going to work; but I need to get a move on or I'm forever stuck in limbo thanks to the disaster that is last year's NaNoWriMo. For the record I don't open the MS Word since. Damnit.)

Anyways.

It occurs to me that I'm yet to put in a link to the last piece of completed work I ever did (and the only one last year OTL), and it just so happen it starts with A, so what better way to start the whole thing by doing so?

And The Looking Glass Falls

Written for a minibang/bigbang challenge for a community in Livejournal, (I mentioned about it on my last post here under the writing section) this story manage to successfully ruins my life and puts it back together all in one. It also proves that letting my brain runs away with a plot idea may or may not be a good thing to do.

For starters, I signed up for a minibang challenge, which is, by extension, requires one to write a 5k words of story. By the time the dateline's approaching I've long past the limit and the story ends at a whooping 21, 850 word count. To be frank had it not been me procrastinating (lol) it can go longer, but, I'm already satisfied with it as it is. Of course, I'm not saying it's perfect either, so if you actually take your time to read it and found mistakes, feel free to tell me. :D

The incident gave me the confidence that I can tackle the 50k challenge of NaNoWriMo, but my muse came to a halt 1/5 of the way and goes on vacation instead (the intended novel is still stuck at 10k word count and on the verge of being scrapped altogether OTL)

Back to the topic though, -if I dare say it- this story is one that I am so, so glad I wrote; medieval era is a fascinating subject to me, and for the first time I went through a sorta research (willingly!) in preparation of writing it, like 15th century France, monarchy in Korea as well as Malaysia, army, etc.

There's a reason Wikipedia is one of my most open tab ever.

But regardless of how I adore this, I know I have to write something more, which leads to my discovery that the minibang/bigbang challenge is back, and I signed up for it last night (resulting in a death glare from the editor-imouto) and along with this AtoZ challenge, maybe, just maybe, I can get a hang on writing again.

Never mind the Spring season of anime is starting soon, (Mushishi! Season 2! Like hell yeah!!) along with the anticipated weekly F1 and MotoGp racing.

...I am first and foremost a professional procrastinator, people.

Till then,

  1. Good luck with the A to Z, it is a big ask if you are not used to blogging every day to take it on.

I am helping a bit this year so will be back again soon although I have a lot of blogs to view.

    All the best

I have noted you have word verification on and it can put folk off commenting, the general view is, it is best turned off for the A to Z . . . Thanks
